Data Governance vs The New AI Pilot.

Your AI pilot moved fast.

𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗽.

Build the use case.

Connect the systems.

Give the agent tools.

Prove it works.

Move fast.

Then governance gets invited in.

Now the questions start:

Who owns the data?

Which source is authoritative?

What can the agent read?

What can it change?

What requires approval?

What gets logged?

How do we stop it?

How do we roll it back?

Those are not cleanup questions.

𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.

And they should have been answered before the scooter started moving.

A lot of companies have the sequence backwards.

OneTrust found 87% of organizations encourage AI agent use.

Only 47% have clear governance, oversight, and controls in place.

Deloitte found 70% of leaders pursuing agentic AI say they cannot yet trust and govern their agents.

Not a model problem.

Not a prompt problem.

𝗔 𝘀𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺.

The moment AI moves from generating to acting, governance has to move into the system itself.

Those answers cannot live only in a policy document.

They have to live where execution happens.

Governance is not the brakes.

𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲.

The AI pilot should not leave footprints for governance to clean up.

𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻.

Which of those questions gets answered too late in your organization?

From Pilots to Platforms.
