Building Uvilox AI: Real-Time Sign Language Interpretation over WebRTC
This week, we integrated hand-landmark detection pipelines using MediaPipe and TensorFlow for Indian Sign Language (ISL) recognition, alongside low-latency WebRTC and LiveKit streaming infrastructure to handle sub-second video processing. Managing video frame drops and inference latency over fluctuating mobile connections without disrupting real-time speech translation proved challenging, but we are moving forward to optimize gesture-to-speech models for edge execution and expand our closed beta test on Android.
Would love to hear how other founders in the community manage low-latency computer vision pipelines in production!
