Bihar's New Bet on Education Equity

Imagine a student in a small Bihar town, dreaming of cracking JEE or NEET — but with no money for coaching that costs lakhs in the cities. That gap is exactly what the Bihar government is trying to close.
CM Samrat Choudhary this week launched free JEE-NEET coaching in 10 model schools in Patna, aimed squarely at students from economically weaker backgrounds. It's part of a bigger push — a 'Smart Class' initiative rolled out across 150 government schools, bringing live digital classes, study material, and mock tests to students from Class 9 to 12.
The government has also signed MoUs with NGOs to strengthen AI and STEM learning in schools.
As Choudhary put it: the goal isn't just new technology it's making sure every student, regardless of background, gets a real shot at quality education.
A small step, but one that could change a lot of futures.
